Proposed Amendments to The Ahiman Rezon
At the June 2024 Quarterly Communication, amendments to Section 10.01 of The Ahiman Rezon were announced and tabled for action at the December 2025 Annual Communication. The purpose of the amendments is to modify the calculation of the automatic inflation adjustments to Grand Lodge dues and fees to provide members with sufficient notice so that they may pre-pay dues through monthly payments during a Masonic Year. If approved at the December 2025 Annual Communication, Section 10.01 will read as follows:
10.01. The revenue of the Grand Lodge shall be derived from:
6. Dues and Fees of Subordinate Lodge, viz: Grand Lodge dues annually for each member who was a life member on Dec. 7, 1955: $2.00
Grand Lodge dues annually for each member who was a life member on Dec. 27, 2011 *: $52.00
Grand Lodge dues annually for all other members *: $52.00
Fee for each initiation, or admission of a Brother from a Lodge of another Jurisdiction **: $155.00
* Grand Lodge dues and fees are subject to inflationary adjustments every two years, as set forth herein. Dues are invoiced to members in early September of each year for the succeeding Masonic Year. To accommodate the growing desire of members to pay dues monthly or on other increments over the course of the Masonic Year in advance of the year for which such dues apply, Grand Lodge will endeavor to calculate and publish inflationary adjustments before the commencement of the Masonic Year during which they will be collected. To make this accommodation possible, the dues increase will be calculated using lagging CPI data.
* For purposes of calculating inflationary adjustments for Grand Lodge dues, “CPI” shall mean the Consumer Price Index for All Urban Consumers, “Base Amount” shall mean $52.00, and “Base Index” shall mean the CPI for December 2023. For the Masonic Year beginning on Dec. 27, 2026, such Grand Lodge dues shall automatically equal (i) the Base Amount adjusted in the same ratio as the CPI for December 2024 bears to the Base Index, and then (ii) such adjusted amount shall be rounded up or down to the nearest fifty cents ($.50). Every second year thereafter, such Grand Lodge dues shall automatically equal (i) the Base Amount adjusted in the same ratio as the CPI for December of the preceding year bears to the Base Index, and then (ii) such adjusted amount shall be rounded up or down to the nearest fifty cents ($.50). The Grand Lodge shall make such computations along with the results available to the members on or before December 27 of the Masonic Year for which such inflationary adjustment applies. Accordingly, the inflationary adjustment for Masonic Year beginning on December 27, 2026, will be published on or before Dec. 27, 2025, and each inflationary adjustment made thereafter will be published on or before Dec. 27 of the year for which such adjustment applies.
** For purposes of this provision, “CPI” shall mean the Consumer Price Index for All Urban Consumers, “Base Amount” shall mean $155.00, and “Base Index” shall mean the CPI for December 2023. For the Masonic Year beginning on Dec. 27, 2026, such initiation fee shall automatically equal (i) the Base Amount adjusted in the same ratio as the CPI for December 2024 bears to the Base Index, and then (ii) such adjusted amount shall be rounded up or down to the nearest five dollars ($5.00). Every second year thereafter, such initiation fee shall automatically equal (i) the Base Amount adjusted in the same ratio as the CPI for December of the preceding year bears to the Base Index, and then (ii) such adjusted amount shall be rounded up or down to the nearest five dollars ($5.00). The Grand Lodge shall make such computations along with the results thereof available to the members on or before Dec. 27 of the Masonic Year for which such inflationary adjustment applies. Accordingly, the inflationary adjustment for the Masonic Year beginning on Dec. 27, 2026, will be published on or before Dec. 27, 2025, and each inflationary adjustment made thereafter will be published on or before Dec. 27 of the year for which such adjustment applies.
