Master Builder Program
When a man is raised a Master Mason, his journey is just beginning.
The Master Builder Program is designed to ensure that our newest brothers are not simply initiated into membership but fully engaged in the life of the Craft from their very first year.
The program provides a structured pathway of education, mentorship and fellowship through guided learning, lodge participation, district involvement and service opportunities. But this initiative is about much more than completing requirements; it is about immersing
newly raised Masons in the culture of Freemasonry.
A brother’s first-year experience often determines whether he becomes active, invested and eventually willing to lead. By bringing mentored participation to meetings, fellowship events, ritual participation and service, the program creates fully engaged members. Over time, that engagement strengthens retention and naturally increases the number of brothers prepared to serve as lodge officers and future leaders of the Craft.
Central to the program is mentorship. Every Master Builder candidate is paired with a mentor, creating a relationship that benefits both men. The new brother gains guidance and confidence, while the mentor deepens his own commitment through leadership and example.
Additionally, mentors may participate in the Master Craftsman Program, a companion to the Master Builder with parallel requirements. The mentor and new member grow together in friendship, forming a bond while gaining advancement as the wages of their labor.
An overall incentive framework supports this effort and encourages friendly participation across the jurisdiction. The focus, however, remains clear: meaningful engagement, measurable growth and long-term vitality.
The Master Builder Program reflects a simple conviction: if we invest in men early, we build stronger lodges for decades to come.
Master Builder Incentive Program
The Grand Master is so invested in the benefits of this program that he has committed to personally funding an incentive program to encourage brethren to take the initiative to grow in their Masonic journey.
Incentives will be awarded directly to each district’s School of Instruction, ensuring that lodges across the district will have a voice in how the funds are utilized to enhance morale, fellowship and instructional quality.
Districts will be ranked based on the percentage of Master Builder Awards earned within their district, with eligibility criteria tied to established new membership objectives.
Districts meeting their goals will be recognized for their commitment to engagement and growth. At year’s end, the top districts’ School of Instruction will receive:
- First place: $2,500
- Second place: $1,000
- Third place: $500
These funds may be used at the district’s discretion to strengthen programming, fellowship and instructional development.
Beyond financial awards, the program is intended to foster healthy participation and shared purpose across the jurisdiction. When new members complete the Master Builder Program, they become more active, more confident and more prepared to serve. The bond formed between mentor and new brother strengthens not only individuals, but entire lodges.
