Empowering Students

Through the sponsorship of the Masonic Youth Foundation, Deborah McCoy, from the Educational Development Services, LLC, and long-time anti-bullying educator, held the 13th annual “Empowering Student Bystanders to Upstanders” workshop on Oct. 1, 2025, with students from the IU 10 schools. Seventy-four students participated from seven elementary schools in Centre, Clearfield and Clinton counties. The student teams participated in lessons and discussions about bullying, focusing on developing the skills and strategies to be an upstander for their peers experiencing bullying. Each team created a role-play demonstrating how to be an upstander, which they will be sharing with their schools. They also created an action plan outlining how they will provide leadership to their peers in their schools as upstanders.
